Born & brought up in the tea estates of North Bengal, now popularly known to many as Dooars, Sandip completed school at North Point, Darjeeling and went on to do Economics at Loyola College, Madras. On graduation he chose Marketing & Communication as his profession and went on to work in Advertising. After having worked at FCB Ulka, McCann Ericson, Clarion he finally headed the offices of India’s largest Agency, Lintas, at Kolkata and Chennai. He became the head of the Eastern zone for Saregama (previously HMV) and was responsible as the Marketing Head for ‘old Hindi music’. Today, after 40+ years, Sandip's energies are concentrated on teaching and designing courses for young India as the President of Calcutta Media Institute (CMI).
Having grown up with 23 chickens, 6 rabbits, 4 swans, 3 ducks, 8 cows, 3 dogs, a goat, and a tortoise, Sandip's wild streak never left him. Over the years, he has visited most wilderness parks in the country and has experienced the vastness of wild India. A keen photographer and a voracious reader on Indian wildlife, he possibly has read every conceivable book written on the Tiger. A speaker and writer on Indian wildlife at various forums, he spends his holidays amongst the wild in India. His photographs are today displayed at numerous WWF exhibitions nationally and internationally.
