S. V. Raman, popularly known as Raju Raman, is a qualified civil engineer. He forayed into different areas of passion as a profession. He was associated for 35 years with the German Cultural Centre, Goethe-Institut /Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and retired in 2010 as Programme Director. Thereafter, he was the Programme Consultant to the iconic museum Victoria Memorial Hall at Kolkata for 13 long years.
For over four decades, he has been a mentor for public speaking / communication / journalism / film studies / German at various institutions. He is a freelance journalist, translator/interpreter/ cultural influencer.
From 1988 to 1992, he was the All India General Secretary of the Federation of Film Societies of India, while the legendary film director Satyajit Ray was the President.
A keen debater since his schooldays, he regularly chairs and judges debates and also dons the mantle of quiz-master and anchor-person for talk-shows, panel discussions and other events on stage and on the small screen.
He is actively connected with several social and cultural organizations in various capacities.
