28-year-old Chandan Mukherjee had started his association with SAHAY when he was a 3-year-old child. As he grew older he began to realize how deeply SAHAY had shaped the course of his life. Coming from a rural, underdeveloped area in West Bengal, he had seen limited opportunities. But through his involvement with SAHAY, he discovered a community that believed in his potential, and that belief would become the foundation for his later success.
His journey began when he became a Youth Council Leader, a role that taught him the value of leadership, responsibility, and initiative. SAHAY’s skill-building programs, including Social and Financial Education, which focused on financial literacy and social responsibility, and specialized leadership training, further equipped him with the skillset to think critically and take decisive action. These programs instilled in him the belief that education was the key to unlocking his potential and changing the course of his future.
He completed his BA, MA, and MPhil in Sanskrit at the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute. Throughout his academic journey, he faced numerous hurdles, but the self-belief and skills he had gained through SAHAY had helped him to sustain himself. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Sanskrit while working as a Sanskrit teacher at IIT Roorkee, a prestigious institution he never imagined he would be a part of.
